Prophetic Perspective from Heavenly Places: Rise Like the Eagles

“Develop a prophetic perspective from heavenly places. Isaiah 40 shows how God calls you to soar like eagles and see what others miss.”

Two black buzzards ripped apart a fish that had washed up on shore. From a nearby rock, a mother egret and her little one eyed the fish. Just off the shore an interested squawking pelican plopped down with a splash.

The commotion attracted a swarm of seagulls who darted toward the fish, only to be driven back by the buzzards’ fierce screeching and threatening claws.

As my husband and I kept watching the bickering birds, a bald eagle swooped in to survey the scene.

I felt like the Lord wanted me to really “see” this activity before me.

In the Bible, at different times God would say to His man (or woman), “What do you see?” or He would cause a stir and watch to see if they would pay attention. You may remember what happened with Moses and the burning bush in Exodus 3.

Sometimes God speaks through what He shows us. He uses the natural world as a parable, like a living picture showing a spiritual truth.

We as children of God, and especially prophetic people, are to watch for these moments and ask the question: “Lord, what are You saying through this?”

This is how we develop a prophetic perspective that sees beyond the natural into the spiritual reality.

The Eagle Swept In

The eagle swept in, and just when it looked like a fight would ensue, the eagle circled again and flew away, leaving the squawkers behind.

Unlike the other squawking birds, the eagle did not make a sound, but all the birds felt its presence. It soared high above us all, gliding over the bay with a clear view of the water below.

The eagle could see from its heights the mullet jumping out of the water, and the many schools of baitfish rippling the calm surface as far as could be seen.

The eagle did not entangle itself in the other birds’ jealous and envious bickering over a dead fish. He simply flew higher. Opportunities for dinner were abundant from the eagle’s viewpoint.

The Kingdom Principle Hidden in Plain Sight

Friends, in God’s kingdom, there is no lack. There is abundance for every circumstance we face. (2 Peter 1:3)

In God’s kingdom, we are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph 1 & 2). This is not metaphor, it is our actual position, the place from which a true prophetic perspective operates.

God said to me that day, “Lift your eyes, see things from my vantage point. Come up and sit with me a while. Find your rest in my presence. Find strategies to handle your family, your work, your finances. Everything you need for life and godliness is found in Me.”

You see, there was no need to lose my peace or fret over the squabbles and conflicts around me. People all around me were squawking and squabbling: people at work, family, friends, not to mention all the online voices.

But Christ’s viewpoint is a lot different than our viewpoint.

The reason all those birds were arguing was because of their perceived lack. But the eagle saw differently; he saw abundant possibilities!

Do Not Fight Over a Decaying Carcass

People all around us get caught up in comparison, envy, judgment, disappointment, frustration, and well, their perceived lack of something.

They strive and scratch to get ahead in any way possible. They scratch for provision. They promote and push for attention and approval.

But you, friends, you are already abundantly loved, valued, and appreciated!

Your true position is in the heavenlies with Christ!

Everything you need comes from your time sitting with Christ. You have a divine Source! Really, all you have to do is ask!

That day, the eagle feasted on fresh fish, while all the other birds fought over a decaying carcass.

The interesting thing to me was that all those birds were created to fish. They were all equipped with the skills they needed and surrounded by abundance.

Yet, they were blinded by the scene on the ground in front of them. They were unable to see the plentiful provision just beyond their view.

What Is Blocking Your Prophetic Perspective?

What is blocking your view? Everything we need is dependent on our view from above.

For those who move in the prophetic, this is especially critical.

God has called you to see what others miss from the heights where His voice is clearest.

Do not let comparison, competition, or the fear of being overlooked pull you into the squabble.

Your assignment is not to fight for scraps. Your assignment is to soar, to see, and to speak what the Father shows you from His perspective.

Rise up, friends, rise up! See life from your seat in the heavenly realms.

Your Father knows what you need even before you ask (Matt 6:8). For you are far more valuable to Him than all the birds of the air (Matt 10:31).

Rise up, rise up! For you are eagles!

For Every Weary Heart Longing for More

You might be reading this with tears in your eyes, exhausted from the scramble, or discouraged by how little has changed despite how hard you have tried. You are tired of the bickering in your family, at work, online, even in your own head.

Friend, Isaiah 40 speaks directly into that weariness as a word of hope. God is inviting you up, and out of the sand, above the noise, into the place where His perspective becomes yours.

Isaiah 40: The Biblical Foundation for Heavenly Perspective

Isaiah 40 captures this prophetic perspective beautifully:

Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40: 28-31

A Word for Prophets and Prophetic People

The enemy wants to pull you down into the squabble, whatever the squabble might be at the moment.

The prophetic call is to see from the height where God sees.

When you are seated with Christ in heavenly places, your perspective shifts. You stop fighting over one decaying thing and start feasting on the fresh revelation God releases from His presence.

The other birds were blind to the abundance around them because they were fixed on the ground.

Prophetic people can fall into the same trap. We can be so focused on what others are doing and saying, so worried about being heard or recognized or building a platform, that we miss the vast supply available to all who simply fly higher and ask God what He sees.

The Prophetic Thrives In High Altitude

When you descend into the ground-level bickering (comparing, envy, prejudices, strife, etc.) you lose the very vantage point that makes the prophetic word sharp and true.

God is not rationing revelation. There is a fresh manna for every person willing to sit with Him long enough to receive it.

Fly higher. The squawkers will always be there. Your call is to see what they cannot.

How To See From Heavenly Places:

Shift Your Perspective:

The eagle didn’t get caught up in the chaos around him but operated with God’s wisdom and perspective. What areas in your life need God’s kingdom strategy instead of your own effort or worry?

Set aside a few moments to sit with Christ in prayer and ask for His perspective and strategies for areas like family, work, or finances. Journal the ideas that come to mind and then take practical steps to follow through on those God-given strategies.

Celebrate Your Identity in Christ:

How does recognizing your identity as one seated in heavenly places with Christ (Eph. 2:6) impact the way you see yourself and others? Are there areas where you have been living below this truth?

Take a few minutes to meditate on Ephesians 1:3-14. Write down the blessings and privileges you have in Christ. Affirm these truths over yourself daily as you rise above comparison, envy, or self-doubt.

Immerse Yourself in God’s Word:

Read Ephesians Chapters 1-2 and Matthew Chapters 6-10. You may want to read these same passages every day for the month so you can begin to deeply absorb the concepts of your identity in Christ, God’s provision, and His kingdom principles.

Commit to reading Ephesians 1-2 and Matthew 6-10 each day for 30 days. As you read, journal the things that stand out to you. At the end of the month, reflect on how this daily practice has shaped your understanding of God’s abundance and your identity in Him.
